Best Business Lessons From 2019

Best Business Lessons From 2019

Today’s Savvy Business Show talks about the Best Business Lessons from 2019. We also cover what it takes to lead like a pro and lead with intentions to grow, and having the biggest impact with clarity, accountability, and support, and best business practices.

2019 was a fun year in business, a few highlights included: hosting the first Savvy Business Retreat in March and again in November.

Expanding the Savvy Business Community and meeting and working with some phenomenal private coaching clients. And once again a record-breaking revenue year as well.

And of course, there were some struggles and hard lessons that had to be learned as well.

Let’s dive in…

1: Leading with your intention vs fear result in better decisions and profits

My word for 2019 was trust. And as often as possible when I started to freak out about things, I would lean into trusting myself and the universe.

Doing this helped me make better business decisions that lead to less scramble and better revenue.

2: Clarity leads to ease

Acting from my intention also helped me to get crystal clear on who I’m here to serve and where I have the biggest impact with clients.

This clarity has helped me to figure out where to add new team members. And when and will result in some more changes in business in 2020, moving towards better profit margins, and working with even more ease.

I help my clients with this one a lot. The clearer we can be about our roles in our business and what we are creating, where we have the most impact, the easier it is to plan, act, execute and achieve goals.

When you have clarity it frees up space to do more with less effort as the clarity informs the best plan.

3: I’m no longer here to be nice

So often in an effort to not be seen as mean/unfair or unpopular, we as business owners will bend our rules. Or let something slide that goes against our business mission and values.

In 2019 I had plenty of those moments where in an effort to not look like a witch. I let things go and those things always came back to haunt me. So in 2020, I’m not here to be “nice”.

I’m here to lead by example, to have the biggest impact I can possibly have and to be a leader for others.

Note I’m not saying I’m going to be a mean person. But way too many of us act from a place of not wanting to be seen as mean/unfair/unreasonable. And then we swing the pendulum too far in the opposite direction.

Where’s the middle ground. And where is this behavior shooting yourself in the foot? Where are you bending backward (and losing money) because of it?

4: What got you here won’t get you there

I say this to my clients often — and in 2019 I very much had to take a big dose of my own advice.

As I mentioned it was a big year of testing and getting clear on where the future of my business is headed. And the path forward looks way different than the path here (or how I imagined the path forward will look.)

5:  Accountability and Support is a must

When I invest in people to help keep me accountable, get clear on things or hire new team members to help me in the areas that are not my strong suits, my business always wins.

The most important thing needed to grow a business is consistent action and in order to take this consistent action, you need to work through your fears.

Know your weaknesses, and how they’ll get in the way of what you want — for me, this means investing in coaches, retreats and or masterminds.

Having people who can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with me in my business and understand exactly what it means to run a business. Who can I can talk things through, ask for help is priceless.

And equally important is having the right team members who are rockstars at what they do to support me in my business. And do all the things that I’m not good at or who can do the things that will free me up to have more impact.

Those are my five lessons of 2019! Now I’d love to hear some of yours. Either hop on over to the show notes and my blog to let me know or DM me via Instagram.

Biggest Goal Setting Mistakes You’re Making

Biggest Goal Setting Mistakes You’re Making

Today’s Savvy Business Show talks about goal setting mistakes and helping my clients to do things differently that will work towards meeting goals for 2020 with more ease and joy vs doubt and fear.

It’s the beginning of the year and the world is buzzing with new year’s resolutions and goals.

And unfortunately, most people will make the mistakes we’ll discuss today and it will result in them losing focus, becoming frustrated and not hitting their goals.

If you’ve been following me for a while you know I’m all about helping my clients achieve their goals with more joy and ease.

How do I do this?

By helping my clients to do things differently than they’ve done it before, by shifting their perspective, exploring new possibilities and more…

And in today’s episode, we’re going to look as to how you can do this with your Goals for 2020 that will help you to work towards them with more ease and joy vs doubt and fear.

So often when asking people to set goals they will find it difficult to speak the goal out loud.

And when you dig deeper as to why they’re so shy to say it out loud it’s because there are some fear and doubt buried underneath the excitement of their goals.

Deep down they doubt that they can accomplish their goal.

Let’s dive in…

Which brings us to mistake number one:

1. Setting goals that you don’t believe you can accomplish

When setting a goal it’s important you believe that it’s possible for you to accomplish this goal In order to do so you need to address all the underlying fears and doubts.

Write out all your fears, examine them, do some clearing/tapping or forgiveness/put solutions in place where needed.

Come up with a mantra that will solidify your belief in yourself. Remember this has to be something that you genuinely believe already.

So perhaps instead of saying something like: “I make 10 million in my sleep”

— which may be difficult for you to believe in this very moment, you can start with:

“It’s easy for me to make money.”

Which brings us to the next mistake:

2. Getting too specific about your goal

Remember my why smart goals are so dumb episode last year –if you haven’t listened to it yet, do so after you finish here!

In order to achieve your goal, you have to detach yourself from the outcome.

I know  – everyone everywhere is telling you to have to be super specific with your goals.

But in the process of getting so specific we box ourselves in, we close ourselves off to other better possibilities and we start to white-knuckle our goals.

Which results in an energy shift that comes from a place of lack vs abundance.

What if you leaned into trust more and became open to all the possibilities and ways you could achieve your goal.

In The Illusion of Money, by Kyle Cease – he offers the idea that you set intention vs a goal to help you do this.

In order to get to the route of your intention: ask yourself why you want to achieve your particular goal?

Sticking with the revenue goal: Why do you want to earn that much? What’s the goal behind the goal?

Perhaps it is that you want to experience more freedom?

So that means your intention is to create more freedom. If you embodied this intention, how would you show up, how would you act?

Which brings us to our 3rd and final mistake:

3. Not aligning your habits with your goals:

People set goals but their habits and action don’t support them achieving that goal.

The formula to achieve goals are as follows:

What you think + what you say influences your actions, which directly impacts your results.

SO:

WHAT YOU THINK + WHAT YOU SAY + ACTIONS = RESULTS

Part 1 of the equation:

WHAT YOU THINK + WHAT YOU SAY: is Mistake Number One people make -setting goals they don’t believe they can achieve.

This subconsciously shows up as fear/doubt, so the individual may not even be aware of their limiting belief.

Part 2 of the equation HOW YOU TAKE ACTION

When we act from our intention vs the result/goal we have — in other words if we detach from the outcome,  it’s easier to figure out what action to take.

Because in every second you can ask yourself: my intention is freedom — what will create more freedom here, what actions do I have to take to create more freedom if I showed up in with the intention of freedom what are my next steps?

This opens you up to more possibilities and more freedom.

Part 3 of the equation = RESULT

When you align your thoughts, words, and actions with your intention you’re bound to change your outcome significantly.

By focusing on the process, you’ll open yourself up to so many more possibilities.

And finally: when you look at what you want to accomplish this year — who would you have to become to accomplish that goal?

I.e. If you’ve already achieved those goals: Who would you be, what would you say, how would you take action.

This is often referred to in the self-development world as your Future Self.

When we focus on who we will become in pursuit of our dreams it allows us to enjoy the journey more, it allows us to appreciate ourselves and what we’re creating more.

And when we enjoy the journey and have more self-love, we can create a way with more ease and joy. And that’s when the magic happens.

Now I’d love to hear from you: what is your biggest takeaway from today’s episode?

What is one thought/action you’ll adjust to achieve your goal or who do you want to become to become this year?
