I’ve always liked the actress Charlize Theron. She’s not only beautiful, but also talented and confident. And yes, maybe I’m a little biased because we’re both South African!
Her bold move to negotiate the same pay rate as her male costar, Chris Hemsworth, in the movie “The Huntsman” recently made me love her even more. Read the full article here.
Charlize made a valuable point: Equality for all brings greater good for everyone. In this specific example I see her as a great inspiration for two reasons:
1. She’s a reminder that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. It’s OK to speak up and say something or ask for something you believe in. You can do it in a way that’s not offensive, but rather sincere and firm.
2. Change only happens when you’re persistent. You can’t give up after just one try. If you truly want something to change, keep asking and working for it.
No one is too small to make a difference – and if you think you are, you haven’t spent a night with a mosquito!
