“All you need to know is that the Patriots are a cheating team.”
That was the first comment on an international friend’s picture on Instagram when she mentioned she was watching the Super Bowl and had no clue what was going on. And even though I’m not the world’s biggest football fan, it still stung! But I can also understand why other losing team supporters may think that.
Let’s face it: The Patriots do win a lot! And the comeback they made on Sunday was unreal! (Even my husband, a diehard Pats supporter – like most people in New England, zoned out at half time saying: “Yeah there’s no coming back from that!”
But he (and all those who think the Pats are cheaters) forgot about one thing: Tom Brady’s strong mindset, fitness, and lifestyle regime. We’ve all heard about his extreme diet, workouts, yoga and meditations. Being in excellent health and having worked at “perfection” every day for years, means that he’s completely altered his thinking of what is possible.
With that incredible mindset, he was able to lead his team to do the unthinkable on Sunday. The fantastic news is that you don’t have to be Tom Brady to pull the impossible off. With a little bit of dedication, you can also get Brady’s larger than life frame of mind to accomplish anything you want!
Here are a few strategies to help you increase your positive thinking to achieve the impossible:
- Meditate – No, you don’t have to sit in silence you can do a guided meditation. Science has proven that only 10 minutes a day will alter your brain’s neuropathways. And, yes, you do have 1o minutes a day because if you have time to scroll through Instagram, you have time to meditate too! (Download a PDF with all my favorite meditation apps here.)
- Catch yourself – That’s right, start to notice what you’re thinking about. Simply observing your thoughts can help you spot negative thinking patterns and then you can shut them off. (And yes, step one can help you get better at step two!)
- Flip it – When you spot a negative thought, flip it to the extreme positive.
Remember you do have control over what you choose to think on a daily basis. And if you want to bring about change or accomplish big things in your life you have to guard your thoughts and work on getting a positive mindset, daily. Your brain is a muscle, and you can train it to work for or against you! And whatever you do – don’t let others tell you it’s not possible. If the Patriots can come back from 28-3 and win, then anything is indeed possible!
Now I’d like to hear from you: Do you have a daily practice to help you cultivate an “anything is possible” mindset? Or tell me what your favorite part about winning the Super Bowl was, below!
