{Podcast} Why SMART goals are SO DUMB!

It’s almost the last day of 2019 and lots of people are putting the finishing touches on their goals and intentions for the new year ahead. I personally love this time of year, there’s so much excitement in the air, so much hope of all the possibilities that can be achieved in the year ahead.

But I also see a lot of angst and confusion: so many people are jumping on the SMART goal setting wagon that all “gurus” out there are shouting about… only to get their panties all up in a bunch because it’s all so constricting. And not knowing that they’re actually setting themselves up to fail massively because SMART goals are actually dumb.

It’s no wonder that a lot of people give up on setting goals or making new years resolutions. All this SMART goal setting is creating pressure and confusion…

I so got roped into this with you! Until last year I used to be on the SMART goal bandwagon but then I realized that most of my of the time when I set SMART goals – I failed. Getting so freaking clear and specific (And realistic) on them was actually making me white-knuckle my goals and strangling them to death…

Getting SMART on my goals meant I was taking all the fun and creativity out of it. And asking around it became so clear that a whole lot of business people and entrepreneurs felt the same. So then I got curious: Where SMART goals came from in the first place? We’ve all heard people talking about them. So if this is the case then who came up with this concept?

Hop on over to today’s episode to hear where SMART goals came from, why most people are using it incorrectly and what to do instead!
