How To Prepare Yourself To Survive It All w/ Kristin Chambers

How To Prepare Yourself To Survive It All w/ Kristin Chambers

Kristin Chambers founded D.A. Luxury Travel in 2007, a modern-day luxury travel consultancy catering to discerning vacationers. She is Boston’s go-to award-winning, trusted travel advisor for clients seeking honest world-class experiences. In 2016, Kristin founded TRAVELLUSTRE — a portfolio of carefully recruited, highly regarded Boston-based travel consultants.

With 18 years’ experience designing itineraries, Kristin has amassed extensive connections and global partnerships—including her “black book” of powerhouse insiders.  Kristin and her team can provide truly unforgettable memories with this exceptional partners’ network, incorporating human connections and thoughtful and personally curated itineraries.

At the end of 2019, I had the honor of working with Kristin and her team. Kristin had made some provisional adjustments and planned to handle an economic downturn with the market rumors of a coming recession. In today’s episode, we’re going to take a more in-depth look at how those preparations helped her navigate the pandemic.

In this episode, you’ll hear answers the following questions:

  • You’ve managed to build a successful multi-million dollar travel-agency, in an era where most travel agents were closing down. Yet, this tells me so much about you: you’re a savvy business person, with grit and tenacity, and an innovator. Now what do you think has been the superpower that helped you do what others deem to be impossible to do when you look back?
  • When you approached me to work with your team at the end of 2019, I remember you telling me that you had already started taking precautions against a possible economic downturn — since then can you tell us a little about what those adjustments were?
  • You belong to a travel-specific mastermind-like group, and you’ve invested in working with me. How has asking for support and surrounding yourself with other like-minded business thought-leaders helped you grow your business?
  • As a result, when the pandemic hit the travel industry: which of these precautions were helpful?
  • What other pivots did you make, and how did you gain clarity on how to adjust?
  • The travel industry has been one of the hardest hits ones; how have you managed to keep yourself and your team motivated?
  • What do you think the future of travel will look like? What is your biggest lesson of 2020? And what are you excited about in 2021 for both of your businesses?

Now I’d love to hear from you!

Please leave us a review on iTunes, Stitcher or wherever you enjoy listening to your podcasts 🙂

Why people choose to work with me

Why people choose to work with me

I’m so excited for the next round of The Up Level Program and the caliber of business owners who are enrolling and interested in joining us.

And speaking of caliber.

I know that there are a LOT of coaches out there. And I’m honored that you’re considering working with me, but I know I have to answer an essential question for you.

Why this? What makes The Up Level Program and working with me different?

I won’t speak for others, but I can confidently say that clients who have worked with me have achieved the following during this time:

  • Closed investor deals
  • Launched online programs and offers
  • Gained clarity and confidence to take aligned and inspired action on their goals

Most business coaches out there are not certified, don’t have business degrees, and have not built award-winning companies.

And most business coaches have not had to move countries, reinvent, and start over from nothing multiple times in their life.

I have.

I moved to the UK with only my wits, no job, and a 50lb bag. Within six months, I had landed a job in the back office of a prestigious Wall Street Brokerage firm where I worked my way up to a sales desk in four short months.

From there, I asked for a transfer to NYC. That wasn’t the job that would help me reach my full potential. So I used all the tools I learned from my life coach to reinvent myself and start my Pilates Brand in Boston.

I built that brand to award-winning status in record time. It’s then that I realized I wanted to pay the gift that coaching gave me forward to others, so I got certified as a life coach.

When you work with me, you get access to all of this, including my 15-years of international business experience.

What I teach in the Up Level Program isn’t regurgitated theories and textbook blueprints. All the work we cover is discoveries, strategies, and tools that I, myself, have implemented, tested, and acquired that allowed me to pivot, innovate, and thrive despite the odds. And these are the exact processes I use to help my clients achieve success too.

Now more than ever, I care deeply about helping business owners innovate and build successful and sustainable companies.

As an entrepreneurial community, we hold power to help the economy heal while having a tremendous impact on our communities. And I want to help you achieve that impact.

So, if you’re ready to allow yourself to receive and accomplish ALL of the above – then I’d love to invite you to join us in the Up Level Program!

There is still time to take advantage of the early-bird offer and join the group of high-level thinking individuals who have already signed up!

Building A Sustainable Business That Offers Wealth & Freedom w/ Nicole Morong CFP®

Building A Sustainable Business That Offers Wealth & Freedom w/ Nicole Morong CFP®

Today’s episode is all about empowering you to start taking the necessary steps to leverage your financial portfolio and create more freedom!

Nicole Peterkin Morong is a financial planner and CEO of Peterkin Financial; she’s also a speaker and a published author. Nicole Peterkin has been in practice since 2011. As an advisor, she emphasizes using money as a tool to get the lifestyle you want instead of viewing it as the obstacle to that lifestyle.  You can purchase her book, If You Love Your Family, Save Like It, on her website.

In the Episode, Nicole answers the following questions:

  1. I’m all about higher profits and helping clients create freedom, which is why I love that your approach to money is different from most other certified financial planners. You help your clients leverage their financial portfolio to build sustainable wealth and the lifestyle they want. I’m curious, what specifically made this your focus?
  2. You’re the author of your book: If You Love Your Family, Save Like It —
What made you decide to write this book?
  3. I admire so many things about you, and one of them is that you live your business philosophy. You retired your husband from his job last year after he got laid off, and despite a $100K cut in income, you were able to absorb this loss without it having to change your lifestyle too much. How were you able to do this?

  4.  Right now, you’re on an extensive work-action in California. For our listeners who crave more freedom like this — where would you tell them to start?
  5. What do you find is usually people’s biggest hurdle or reason why they are financially disorganized? And how is that affecting their business and ability to build wealth?
  1. Can you tell us a little more about specific business systems that you focus on to help business owners plan proactively vs. reactively in their business that will help them create more freedom? Where can they start?
  1. You recently launched a new program called Next Level Profits — how will this program help clients get more organized, create leverage and sustainable wealth?
  2. Where can people find you and learn more about your services and Next Level Profits? — Visit her website here, to learn more about this incredible program that will help you leverage your business and assets to create financial freedom.

Do you see your business as your baby? (be careful!)

Do you see your business as your baby? (be careful!)

Clients often come to me because they’re exhausted and tired. They have lost the joy and passion for their business, and they’re ready to pack it all in and start over.

I can relate to this feeling because it’s precisely what I did in my first business. I worked so freaking hard to build my pilates brand up to award-winning status that I completely burnt myself out.

And so, in a few short months, I got rid of it all: my precious baby that I spent so much time and energy turning into a success. Yet, I couldn’t wait to get rid of it pronto.

And that’s precisely where it all went wrong.

I still viewed my business as my baby and treated it like a nervous helicopter parent, despite its flourishing into a great success.

And this attitude cost me dearly.

I was unable to take a step back and separate myself from my business.

I was unable to release control.

I took everything personally.

I reacted with my emotions instead of responding and adhering to what the business needed.

In the seven years that I’ve been running my award-winning coaching practice, I’ve seen almost ALL business owners I work with make the very same mistake.

And for this reason, we spend a lot of time in the Up Level Program to redefine your relationship with your business.

I also share a scientifically-proven method to step into a more strategic mindset through my Up Level Formula that will increase your awareness of how “mental dynamics” and learned behaviors influence your results and inability to free up time.

An investment that ALWAYS yields the best ROI.

An investment that ALWAYS yields the best ROI.

Today is the last day to join the Up Level Program and take advantage of the early-bird offer.

Over the years, I’ve invested in many tools, systems, resources, and people to grow my business.

There’s one investment that consistently keeps giving the best ROI — no matter what.

Yet this is also the most overlooked investment that most business owners will quickly put off until the future, or they’ll make excuses why now is not the right time for them to make this investment.

I totally get it, heck — I even ignored this advice when I got it from my financial planner over a decade ago!

Instead, I kept making other investments and couldn’t understand why I struggled so much to grow my business.

You see, the advice my financial planner gave me (which also ironically enough was in our previous recession) was this:

“The BEST investment you can ever make is an investment in yourself.”

When we invest in ourselves, we allow ourselves the opportunity of learning something new that will spark growth and innovation.

That opportunity will allow you to spot the right way forward for your business. Your future investments will yield the best ROI. When we invest in ourselves, we always win.

So if you’re scared of making this investment, know that it’s entirely safe for you to enroll in The Up Level Program!

The level of focus and accountability that this program will give you will allow you to release all the disappointment and frustration that 2020 left in its wake. The Uplevel Proram will set you up to attain sustainable success!

As one of our seven-figure Up Level members in the previous round said:

“Business has been reignited on all levels as a result of my participation in the Up Level Program.

I anticipate my team being more proactive and independent, which will result in them being more productive, efficient, and personally satisfied with their work.

My business will become more focused without losing the breadth and variety of experiences it encompasses.” ~ Brain Milauskus, CEO of Kidstock! Theater

Reignite your business by making this investment in yourself! Join us in the Up Level Project!

The real reason you’re failing to scale (and free up time.)

The real reason you’re failing to scale (and free up time.)

Do you know what your role in your business is?

When you started your business, you were the Chief Everything Officer. You wore all the hats.

And your tenacity, consistency, and drive to succeed were the exact reason why you were able to grow your business to where it is today.

But continuing to be the Chief Everything Officer will not take you to where you want to go.

Most business owners fail to scale because they still show up and run their business from a Chief Everything Office’s mindset, despite hiring people to help them.

What does this look like in practice:

  • They struggle to delegate and manage their employees in an efficient way that frees up time and bandwidth
  • They have a hard time letting go and trusting their business and their employees to attain their vision
  • They are overworked, frustrated, and often dreaming of packing it all in and selling their business to do something else

To scale your business in a sustainable way that will allow for higher profits and freedom, you must assume your role as the visionary and business growth strategist.

So how do successful business owners (you know, the ones you see taking fun vacations and love their business) do this?

They bring consistent focus to their leadership and personal development. Working on these two factors allows them to trust their business, leadership ability and manage their team without the time-consuming drama!

In the Up Level Program, I’ll show you how to do all of the above with grace, and as a result, you’ll not only be able to pave the way for sustainable growth –  but you’ll also gain your passion and freedom back!

The BIG business mistake EVERYONE makes!

The BIG business mistake EVERYONE makes!

I used to chase all the blueprints and “how-to” strategies in business. Whenever someone was marketing something to the effect of “I built x million-dollar business in (insert ridiculously short timeframe) and now I’ll show you how,” I was all ears with my credit card at the ready.

And you know what happened: sweet blue NOTHING.

That’s right. Despite me following all those strategies to a freaking T (I’m an A-aggregate student, and I am consistent AF), I didn’t experience ANY of those magic results these so-called “guru’s” offered.

Instead, those strategies lead to a burnt-out me and burning my business to the ground.

After a lot of reflection and coaching, I finally figured out why those strategies weren’t working:

We are all unique with unique talents and gifts — simply copying a blueprint strategy won’t yield the results you want because the systems have to be adapted to work in alignment with who you are!

So what are all the components of YOU?

1 – Your strengths

2 – Your perspective/how you see or think about business

3 – Your leadership traits

4 – Your unique way of working that fuels you vs. depletes you

To identify the best and most effective strategy, you first have to take that strategy and adapt it according to all four factors mentioned above. (and yes — I help you identify and hone all of the above in The Up Level Program.)

The result: you’ll become more strategic and business savvy.

Once I realized this, my business soared. I finally started working less and earned so much more, and I could travel for extensive periods whenever I wanted.

And of course, I was able to help my clients do the same; here’s what one of them said after they implemented the strategies I teach in the Up Level Program:

Hanneke has completely transformed my business and, more importantly, myself. She’s helped me make so much money, and I realized my goal of taking Fridays off. I highly recommend working with her!  ~ Founder and Owner of Leeward Counseling.

What it takes to build a multi-million-dollar business w/ Andrea Lucas

What it takes to build a multi-million-dollar business w/ Andrea Lucas

On today’s episode of the Up Level Project Podcast, we are speaking with author and studio owner of Barre & Soul, Andrea Lucas.

Andrea discusses about surviving her most challenging year in business. Listen to today’s episode to hear Andrea’s answers to the questions below.

You have a unique story. You went from being a single mom (who also had to strip for a while to pay your bills.) and being in an abusive relationship, to building a multi-million dollar fitness boutique business.

  • How did you take the first step to turn things around in your life drastically?

I admire so many things about you. One of them is your ability to jump in and take risks. I remember when you first got your TradeMark for Barre & Soul. You quickly invested & grew your business to multiple studios.

  • How do you mitigate risk?
  • How do you decide how much to invest/what to invest in next,/how much risk to take on?
  • What helps you to GO FOR IT.

One of your most significant discoveries while participating in Up Level Program was rediscovering your WHY for your business.

  • When did you first realize something was off? (how did this show up/manifest in your business?)
  • What effects did this misalignment have on you? How did it affect your team?
  • Once you started acting in alignment with your WHY again, what happened?
  • And why would you advise other business owners to check in on/rediscover their why?

You wrote a book! (and recently released it in audio format) Listeners, be sure to go check it out

The book’s name is Own It All –  In this book you teach women how to reach their full potential by playing a more active role in their lives and taking steps to create the future they want.)

  • What was the hardest thing/biggest challenge for you about writing the book?

From your book, the Landmark courses, participating in my Up Level Program, and all the coaches you’ve worked with over the years, it’s clear that you are passionate about personal development.

  • How did this passion help you build a successful business and become a better leader of your team?

As a brick-and-mortar business, 2020 was a challenging year.

  • What would you say were some of your biggest lessons?
  • What were some of the pivots/adjustments that you made that helped you to stand up to it all when others were closing their doors?
  • What’s coming for Barre & Soul 2021? And what do you have in the works that you’re excited for?

Surviving two recessions: more robust and resilient

Surviving two recessions: more robust and resilient

On today’s episode, we’re talking to Brian Milauskus, founder and owner of Kidstock! Theater.

Brian has successfully grown this business to seven figures twice over the last 28 years. A creative genius, Brain first founded Kidstock! with the intention to simply make a living for himself. The company quickly grew to a flourishing business that helps kids use their creative ability through theater to develop critical interpersonal skills and boost their confidence.

Kidstock now offers many opportunities for kids to reach their full creative expression through afterschool movie-making classes, birthday parties, summer camps, they also offer an online curriculum and more.

Under Brian’s guidance, Kidtock! survived two significant recessions – the great recession and the latest recession, which was induced by COVID.

  1. What’s your biggest lesson when it comes to surviving recessions?

Patience – Trust – Don’t panic – release yourself from blame – accept and continue rather than deny and stop – do you want to journey or do you want to arrive?

  1. Recently, in our work together in the Up Level Program, your most profound “aha moment” was the necessity to lead yourself before leading others. Why was this such a big realization for you, and how will this help you create future business success?

Self-employed people are parents to their businesses

In the beginning you need to do everything for it, and then over time you need to let go and allow it some freedom to grow and to become independent, and eventually you need to see your business as an adult child and learn to live with it in a parallel role as opposed to a responsible role – your job is too become responsive to its needs instead of being responsible for its needs.

It can be very difficult to let go of something you love – to stand back and watch it make mistakes on its own and learn from them.

Building a working relationship with this new entity not owning it or letting it own you

Semantics – Control as a noun rather than a verb – being, having, maintaining, managing

  1. You’ve always been interested in personal development and reaching your highest potential. How has this interest and desire helped you in growing your business over the years?

Finding the reward in learning from missteps

Examining rather than accepting

“What if?” as opposed to “what now?”

  1. When you first created Kidstock! You did so out of the desire to “simply make a living.” – but it has grown into a huge success that completely surpassed that first intention. How do you think your focus on being creative and chasing the fun versus the money as a measure for success hindered and helped your success?

Ignorance is bliss – I would have closed if the only metric for success were financial

Theatrical producer in me knew how to present – followed the idea that live as if you have what you want

Hindsight shows me where there would have been little compromise and great growth IF I had understood myself and the dynamic of where I wanted to go better

  1. What was your biggest business challenge of 2020 and how did you overcome it?

Survival – Responding as opposed to reacting – Allowing myself to consider all the options available to me without feeling the need to decide

I involuntarily revisited the mindset I had when I started and connected again with why I started and was able to let go of the trappings I had acquired and placed value on over time

  1. What’s next for Kidstock!? And what mindset shifts/personal development or other business strategies are you currently deploying to help you to get there?

My next step is to return to what was but redefine it for now – circumstances have challenged some of the basic controlling assumptions I had been working from – what do I “need” – both professionally and personally – has been deconstructed and examined to the point of being redefined.

In many ways the silver lining of this pandemic has been the chance to stop running the race, be the Monday morning quarterback to review the plays and the choices made in the game, and then looking ahead be able to return to the game wiser and more aware.

After losing what I had and still being okay, the anticipation of returning to what I had in a more neutral mindset but with a larger toolbox excites me – the business concept which once upon a time was just me as a self-employed person remains intact, but the dynamic of curating a team and managing their efforts and communicating with them in my own best interests is a newly understood potential for me that I am anxious to develop into a stronger skill

Here’s what Brian said after he completed the Up Level Program:

“The most dramatic “aha moment” for me during the Up Level Program was the necessity for me to lead myself before leading others.

My business has been reignited on all levels as a result of my participation in the Up Level Program. I anticipate my team being more proactive and independent.” ~ Brian Milauskas, Founder & CEO Kidstock! Theater

Reaching Your Full Potential In 2021

Reaching Your Full Potential In 2021

On today’s episode, we take a closer look at the habits that will help you reach your full potential in 2021.

I will also share a great resource that will help you not only reach your highest potential but also re-energize you and set you up for innovation and rebuilding a more sustainable and profitable business that also give you freedom on in 2021.

A common denominator that almost every client that seeks out to work with me has, is the desire to reach their full potential. They have so much creativity and tenacity.

Most of them started their business as a solopreneur and quickly grew its way beyond their wildest imaginations.

These high achieving entrepreneurs are on a quest to accomplish great things.

This innate desire, unfortunately, often leads to these folks:

  • Overworking in their business
  • Having unrealistic expectations of themselves
  • They are often unable or unwilling to delegate tasks because
    • They believe that they can do it better than anyone else
    • fear that if they do let go of control that things will go wrong .
  • All of the busy work prevents them from then stepping into being the visionary of their business — which directly impedes their business’ ability to grow and scale in a way that will create freedom.

All of the above leads to lots of frustration, exhaustion, and in the worst cases: burnout and a big desire to sell the business and run away to a beach somewhere.

This is the exact opposite of their desire to achieve their highest potential.

So how does one reach one’s greatness? How do you perform at optimum levels of capability?

To do so you have to cultivate awareness about:

  • Your unique energy and how you recharge it
Are you an introvert? Do you know how to get into a flowing, calm, and clear state in your mind and body?  Knowing your personality type and doing various personality tests and readings will help you understand how to harness your power.
  • Your inner critic and doubter
This is where mindset work and paying attention to what you think becomes vital.
  • What are your beliefs around your business and your ability are and challenging those
  • Your unique leadership qualities that will get the most out of your team
  • Do you know where your business is going?
    • Have you re-evaluated your business goals and vision (with a year like 2020, you may have had many new insights, ideas, and ahas — have you taken the time to re-imagine your vision?)
Now, if you’re going, ooh yes, THIS IS EXACTLY where I have a blindspot.

This is what I need to do and want to work on. I have the perfect resource for you.

Enrollment for the Up Level Program, my 6-week course where I help entrepreneurs unlock their joyful path to higher profits and freedom, is now open!

In this program, I will show you how to get re-energized and focused on what matters to grow your business and reach your highest potential.

In our 6-week’s together, we’ll have weekly calls and a curriculum that will guide you to discover
  1. Your unique way of working that will help you to conserve your energy and overcome exhaustion,
  2. How to make the best business decisions that will ensure innovation and higher profits
  3. Your unique leadership traits will invigorate your business and team on all levels to be proactive and independent.

I’m also going to show how to curate, clarify, and step into your role as Visionary of your business. This will further ignite innovation and productivity.

I’ll show you a simple mindset shift that will help you redefine your relationship with your business and further unlock freedom and faith in your company’s ability to scale profits.

20 Business Lessons of 2020

20 Business Lessons of 2020

It’s a new year and I hope that you’re just as excited as I am to finally bid the beast of a year that was 2020 adios and farewell.

As always though, we do learn some of our best lessons when the going gets tough — and so, in today’s episode of the Up Level Project Podcast, I’m sharing 20 lessons that my clients shared/experienced and ones that I learned as well. Click here to get the 20 lessons from 2020!

Let’s dive right in:

  1. You are not in control of everything.
  2. You are not your business.
  1. Getting stuck in the busy work vs. proactive role in your business leads to frustration and burnout.
  1. Healthy financials and cashflow are super important.
  2. Resiliency routines help leaders to gain clarity.
  1. You are your business’s most significant asset.
  1. When leaders have clarity, they inspire productivity and confidence
  2. Stop expecting last year’s path to success to give you the same results this year.
  3. When you learn how to work with your personality type and everything that makes you unique, you gain clarity, energy and get results faster.
  1. Regularly evaluating your Why behind your business.
  2. Business systems and back-office processes are vital to support business growth.
  3. Stop and ask yourself how you can simplify something more often.
  1. Showing up as the leader and drawing firm boundaries with your team empowers them (and will not always feel comfortable or easy.)
  2. Before you can lead others, you have to lead yourself.
  3. Feeling fear is normal.
  4. Don’t take things personally. Blaming yourself when your business isn’t performing the way you expected isn’t productive. It will only mess up your self-esteem. Which will further sabotage your ability to see the solutions that will get you to better results.
  5. Surround yourself with other business owners, people with whom you can safely share ideas, experiences, and challenges. This will help you get out of your head – feel less isolated, acknowledge, and celebrate your wins.
  6. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of courage and commitment to achieve your highest potential.

The Scientifically Proven Mindset Behind Success

The Scientifically Proven Mindset Behind Success

An article that was published earlier this year on ScienceDaily.com reads:

“To succeed in modern life, people need to accomplish challenging tasks effectively. Many successful entrepreneurs, business people, students, athletes, and more, tend to be more strategic — and hence, more effective — than others at meeting such challenges.

A new study published this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences shows that one crucial psychological factor behind their success may be a “strategic mindset.”

On today’s episode, we dive deeper into what the article highlights that will help you cultivate a strategic mindset. I’ll give you an easy formula that will help you step into that strategic mindset faster.

According to this article published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the good news is that people can implement the findings that a strategic mindset leads to more success in their lives immediately.

In the article, Professor Patricia Chen advised, “As you approach whatever challenging goal you are pursuing, you can ask yourself, ‘What are things I can do to help myself (and others)? Is there a way to do this even better?’ If something you have been working on isn’t going so well, can you step back and ask yourself, ‘How might I go about this differently? Is there another approach I can try to help this go better?'”

I’ve seen this attitude create excellent results in working with many 6 and 7-figure business owners. However, in my experience, I have found that something has to happen before entrepreneurs can step into that strategic ACTION part that these questions pose.

In addition, Co-author Professor Carol Dweck from the Department of Psychology at Stanford University explained, “There are key points in any challenging pursuit that require people to step back and come up with new strategies. A strategic mindset helps them do just that.” You have to step back and then ask those questions. Something important has to happen in that stepping back.

So, what has to happen in that stepping back?

I call this the secret sauce — the groundwork that will determine how successfully you can see the solutions that those questions are designed to help you see.

To get out of a state of overwhelm or panic and lay that foundation for a strategic mindset — business owners must have a basic understanding of how the mind works and how that influences their actions.

To understand behavioral patterns, we can, of course, look to the world of cognitive-behavioral therapy (some call it the ABC model.)  There are many articles about this model online.

Here’s a quick summary of the CBT model, according to the Beck Institute:

“Cognitive behavior therapy is based on a cognitive theory of psychopathology. The cognitive model describes how people’s perceptions of or spontaneous thoughts about situations influence their emotional, behavioral (and often physiological) reactions. Individuals’ perceptions are often distorted and dysfunctional when they are distressed. They can learn to identify and evaluate their “automatic thoughts” (spontaneously occurring verbal or imaginal cognition) and to correct their thinking so that it more closely resembles reality. When they do so, their distress usually decreases, they are able to behave more functionally, and (especially in anxiety cases), their physiological arousal abates.”

So, in short: something happens — and your thoughts/beliefs around this will determine your actions, leading to specific results.

I first learned about this in a book by Jack Pranksy — Somebody Should Have Told Us — and this knowledge saved my life. And over the years, I started adapting this model to specifically help entrepreneurs build a more strategic mindset.

Over the years, I deduced it to a quick formula, which I dubbed the UP LEVEL FORMULA — and in my forthcoming book The Up Level Project — I dive super deep into the science behind this formula and how it can help get better results.

This formula (along with the other tools of The Up Level program)  has helped my Up Level Program clients land huge contracts and develop new revenue streams. I love this tool as its something fast and easy to implement to achieve anything you want.

The Up Level Formula works as follows:

Beliefs + Thoughts + Language + Feelings + Actions = Results

To get different results, you have to upgrade or change one or all of the things in this formula.

Bringing that back to the strategic mindset questions: if you believe that it’s impossible to achieve something, or it’s too late to resolve that problem, then you’re going to have thoughts that line up with that belief, you’re going to use language that suggests that you have that belief,

For instance, you may say things like “it’s never going to work, it’s too late.”

These specific thoughts will then give you feelings of angst and fear (which will kick up more panicky thoughts), and all of this will then influence your actions.

You don’t want to take action/half-hearted effort — that will influence your results.

When you implement the Up Level Formula: Beliefs + Thoughts + Language + Feelings + Actions = Results

You’ll be able to step into that strategic mindset faster and give innovative solution answers to those strategic mindset questions that the article poses.

So let’s recap what you now know:

1 – Science has proven that a strategic mindset is needed to achieve success

2 – You can cultivate that mindset by asking yourself specific questions

3 – To supercharge your results and strategic perspective, you can implement the Up Level Formula: Beliefs + Thoughts + Language + Feelings + Actions = Results

If you want to dive deeper into this work or work with me — be sure to listen to the outro. Thank you so much for listening, and we’ll catch up next time on The Up Level Project Podcast.

Fact Check

In doing some fact checks and further research into both CBT and specifically the work of Dr. Jack Pransky — I discovered that there is a slight (yet significant difference)

Dr. Pranky is a Three Principles Author, Trainer and Practitioner — The three principles refer to Universal Mind, Consciousness and Thought– and how these three principles work together to create everyone’s unique “reality,” out of which they then think, feel and act.

And CBT’s approach differs from this in that they believe that the outside event is neutral and that you can change your experience/feelings and behavior around that neutral event by changing your thoughts about it.

So, the way I interpret it in short is that The Three Principles believe that you create your reality by cultivating awareness through Universal Mind, Consciousness and Thought — which is more inline with the principles of The Up Level Formula where I operate on the basis that you can create the results you want by cultivating awareness and adjusting your beliefs, thoughts, language, feelings and actions.

And the CBT only focuses on the idea that you can change your experience of the activating event but not reality itself.

Like I said, a very slight difference, but I did want to ensure I provide you with the correct facts and insight of where my work and the research behind it comes from.

Thanks again for listening.

Reflection as a growth strategy

Reflection as a growth strategy

On today’s episode we are going to discuss how reflection helps you to get better results, and accelerate growth. I’ll also share a powerful resource that you can use to help you cultivate your weekly reflection process.

As Albert Einstein’s famous quote states:

“Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”

I tend to see that business owners are all geniuses, learning from big mistakes and making sure that they understand them and correct those missteps in the future to get better results.

What about those smaller, less obvious ones? How do you spot those and ensure that you don’t keep making those?

You don’t just have to wait for only big mistakes to happen for you to learn or accelerate business growth.

Drawing from Einstein’s wisdom: we can be geniuses more often.

Suppose you want better/different results because you’re a high-achieving entrepreneur who wants to reach your full potential.

It’s time that you start measuring your progress on a regular basis so you can identify what new actions need to be taken instead.

How?

By allowing yourself time to reflect and debrief regularly.

In my work with clients, I usually help them develop a weekly practice of reflection, using my CEO Power Sheet — which you can download right now.

By doing the CEO Power Sheet regularly, it helps my clients to:

See what’s working? What keeps them motivated?

They can then build on those strategies and amplify them. Allowing consistent action in a direction that will offer the results they desire and eventually create lots of effortless momentum.

Notice what’s not working and make adjustments faster.

When you hold these debrief meetings weekly with your team or when you finish a big project, it allows you to spot inefficiencies, identify where you can improve, and adjust things faster, helping you course-correct with more ease.

Help you stay focused:
Checking in on where you’re at, where you want to weekly, helps you stay focused and consistent. And we all know that consistent action is the secret sauce of building success.

Saves time and create more freedom:
By bringing focus to actions that give the results you want, you’ll waste less time on energy-draining activities. This will help you create more freedom in your business.

Helps you grow:
In the Up Level League Mastermind and my 6-week Up Level Program, we spend a lot of time cultivating awareness about entrepreneurs’ personal-development and growth

Continuing with Einstein’s theory:
Getting better results means cultivating awareness about those actions that are holding you back.

Fact is: Whether you are doing focused personal development work or not, you’re always evolving as a human; you’re changing.

And because you’re constantly changing, your needs and desires will be changing as well. These factors will significantly influence how you operate in your business; it will impact your motivation and, of course, your actions too.

When you are aware of this growth, you can harness it to accelerate the results you want. Also allowing you to make adjustments to ensure that you stay fulfilled in your business.

Taking time to reflect helps you track how you’re changing as a business owner and will help you run your business differently. This will align better with the results you want.

For instance, in a recent CEO yearly review with one of our Up Level Program members, the client figured out that they had completely changed from who they were when they first started their business.

Yet, they were still running their business as though they were still the person they were way back when.

Running their business from that vantage point significantly impacted their future vision of what the company could become.

In short, not stepping into who they had become and thinking about their business in that way held back future business growth opportunities.

So let’s do a quick recap. In this episode, you learned that:

  1. If you want different results, you have to start doing things differently (And stay tuned for next week’s episode to get the formula to help you DO things differently and uplevel your results.)
  2. How reflection helps you to better your results by helping you:
    1. Identify what’s working and what’s not
    2. Save time and create more freedom
    3. Help personal development which accelerates business growth
  3. Remember to download your CEO Powersheet and start holding your weekly CEO meetings with yourself as well!

Gaining clarity that leads to confident and inspired action

Gaining clarity that leads to confident and inspired action

On today’s episode, we continue our conversation from episode 86 and dive deeper into ways to gain clarity that will lead to inspired action. Clarity without action steps that inspire and motivate us will only lead to burnout and frustration. In today’s episode, you’ll learn four foundational ingredients that will have you taking energizing action every day.

When it comes to gaining clarity, I’ve noticed that there are usually three foundational elements that need work first before clarity can spring into energizing action:

And they are:

  1. Trust
  2. Commitment
  3. Creating Space
  4. A weekly reflection on progress

Let’s take a closer look at all three of these. I’ll give a few pointers to help you build on these principles:

  1. TRUST

When it comes to building a business and creating the vision that you hold for that business and your life there are a lot of things that are out of your control.

Giving up control is a big hurdle for most high achievers. This tends to keep them stuck and unable to break through to the next level.

As much as we like to pretend that everything is in our control. 2020 has been living proof that actually– we don’t have that much power at all.

Entrepreneurs need to control EVERYTHING that eats up a lot of bandwidth. This creates a lot of inner friction, analysis paralysis that drains energy, and in the most extreme cases, leads to burnout.

Of course, the negative brain chatter that a perceived lack of control condors up, fog your brain, and immediately blocks any clarity and decisive action that wants to come through.

It stalls you and can take any action. It feels like you’re fighting an uphill battle. – messes with your trust

So, how do you silence the chatter:
  • You work on trusting and having faith that no matter what. You’ll figure out solutions to any problem that your business presents.
  • Focus on what you can control in a situation and let the rest go
  • Having a mantra-like: everything is always working out for the higher good of everyone involved usually helps clients to ground down and silence those doubting thoughts.

2 COMMITMENT

Creating your vision and having the courage to take the actions required to get you there takes unwavering commitment.

You have to commit that you’re going to do whatever it takes to achieve your vision. To get to this level of commitment, I usually get my Up Level Program members and Up Level League mastermind to ask themselves:

On a scale from 1 – 10 (10 being extremely committed), How committed am I to this goal?

If the answer is anything less than an 8, I ask them what will get them eight or higher?

This question helps to create further clarity by assisting clients in reevaluating their WHY/reasons or motivation behind their vision.

It also allows them to see where what they say they want and their actions are not aligned; it also shows us where they may be neglecting self-care/meeting essential needs that are needed to create energizing action.

3. CLARITY NEEDS SPACE:

When you started your business, you had to be the Chief Everything Officer — so you did a lot of busywork.

Now that you’re a multiple 6 -7 + figure entrepreneur, it requires you to work in a whole new way. That means way less busy work — which is why, as I mentioned in Episode 86 — I spend a lot of time helping my clients to reframe and shift their mindset around “hard work = success” or “not being busy = lazy.”

All the busy work has taken a toll and may have sucked your excitement for your business out of you. When we’re uninspired, clarity that energizes us enough to take massive action is impossible to get.

To create more freedom and higher profits require an evident (and exciting) vision —

A vision that will allow you to lead others to places where they would never go by themselves.

This kind of clarity can not happen when you are bogged down in the day-to-day.

The clarity needed to grow beyond where you’re at now requires SPACE. Space to think outside the box, room to play, freedom to be creative, and it’s way beyond problem-solving mode and into expansive and innovative thinking.

Most of my clients have forgotten how to dream. Dreaming of what’s possible is exactly what’s needed to create more freedom and profits.

How do you get into this space?

  • Mediation
  • Journaling
  • And one of my favorites to set it off:” The what if” game.

The trick here is to set aside time where you’re playing and having fun, knowing that you’re not committing to anything and therefore you don’t have to jump into solution mode just yet.

4: REFLECTION CREATES CLARITY

Finally, to step into inspired action, reflection is needed. You can only get clear on where you’re going when you know where you’re at.

Knowing where you’re at and reflecting on lessons learned will help you bridge the gap between where you are and where you’re going.

I recommend a weekly CEO review or debrief to help you do this.

During your review you can ask questions that will help you see what you’ve learned, what progress was made, what worked, and what didn’t.

DOWNLOAD YOUR CEO POWER SHEET HERE.

All of the above will help you to stay not only motivated but also gain further clarity on the road to success.

So to sum it all up: Clarity informs inspired and energizing action.

The steps you can implement straight away to get you to take confident action are the following:

  1. Let go of what is NOT in your control and trust yourself and the universe that everything is always working out in your favor
  2. The more committed you are the easier it will be to gain clarity and see what steps to take to create your vision
  3. Create space and time to dream and allow yourself time to get clearer on your vision and identify creative and fun ways to create success
  4. Start holding weekly CEO meetings with yourself where you reflect on what you’ve learned, what’s working, and what adjustments need to be made.

Three mistakes entrepreneurs make when it comes to gaining clarity and how to overcome them

Three mistakes entrepreneurs make when it comes to gaining clarity and how to overcome them

On today’s episode, we’ll explore the three mistakes entrepreneurs make regarding gaining clarity and how to correct them. We’ll also look at why clarity is so important and why it seems to be so elusive. You’ll also leave with three clear strategies that you can implement straightaway to help you gain clarity in any situation.

When it comes to business, clarity is super important. That’s why it’s the very first section in my book The Up Level Project: Your guide to unlocking higher profits while creating more freedom, and it’s also one of the first modules we cover in The Up Level Program — my 6-week course that’s the companion to my book and this podcast.

Why is it so important: because Clarity lights up the way to success. But not just the general way to that goal.

When you have clarity about your vision, how you work best, and your top leadership qualities, then that clarity lights up your UNIQUE path to reaching your full potential (and yes, that means higher profits and freedom)

But clarity seems to be one of the biggest struggles for humans in general. And it’s no different for business owners. Clarity can be elusive.

In my work with dozens of multiple 6 – 7 figure business owners, I’ve identified THREE big mistakes that prevent clarity from shining through:

1. People are looking for clarity in the wrong place
Meaning: when people think about getting clear, they usually start looking at the steps to achieve a goal. But when we do this — our brains immediately begin to see all the problems and potential things that may go wrong and why a plan won’t work.

These thoughts kick up more fear and other emotions that further blurs our road to success.

To get the action plan that will lead you to your vision, you have to focus on WHAT YOU WANT.

What is your vision? The more you can stay in vision mode, the easier it will become for your brain to ID HOW to get there.

In the previous round of the UP LEVEL PROGRAM, this was a huge realization for my 7-figure business owners. When we focus on WHAT the how to get there naturally lights up for us.

Which brings us to our second mistake entrepreneurs make when it comes to gaining clarity:

2. Jumping into action too fast
Most of the multiple 6-7 figure entrepreneurs I work with are high achievers; they are extremely driven and impatient. They want results fast. Of course, this behavior is the very quality that helped them grow their business to multiple 6 and 7 figures.

BUT it’s also the same quality that will make it impossible to get to the next level without expending massive amounts of energy.
Stuck in the weeds and spinning one’s wheels but getting no-where.

For entrepreneurs to gain clarity on their vision and see the path to make that vision a reality, while getting inspired and energized to take action with ease vs. action that drains you; business owners have to learn to sit in inaction a little longer, focusing longer on what they want and why they want it.

When working with mastermind clients and Up Level Program clients on this, we do a lot of work around rewiring old beliefs that doing nothing is somehow lazy or the belief that you’ll somehow fall behind by slowing down.

3. Fear of getting it wrong

Lots of people have trouble figuring out what they want aka gaining clarity because they’re scared that they’ll somehow get it wrong.

This mentality shows us that there is a lack of trust on the business owner’s behalf. I help my clients to work on their faith muscle a little more…

This is exactly what we’ll get into in our next episode, so be sure to tune back in next week!

For now — remember that there is no getting something wrong, there is only getting it, learning from it, and then upleveling with new wisdom. You only fail when you decide to not get up and try again.

Ok, here are your three takeaways that will help you to avoid making those pesky mistakes when it comes to getting crystal clear on what you want:

1 – Focus on what you want vs how you’ll get there

2 – Focus on your vision and stay in inaction until you feel inspired to take action

3 – There is no getting it wrong, there’s only learning and choosing to uplevel from where you’re at
