Four easy tips to stay grounded, built trust and grow your network!
When an old Pilates connection recently reached out to ask if I’d lead their women’s leadership group through a hands-on workshop, I was thrilled at the opportunity! I got to coach the team through an array or topics like how to step up and own their role as leader and how to overcome the challenges that are keeping them from leaning in harder.
Listening to the hurdles that all of us face on a daily basis got me thinking just how hectic our lives are and how hard we are on ourselves. During the holidays it all just get crazier.
Here are four easy tips to survive the holidays (and life):
Breath (Four breath pattern) – relax in under 30 seconds
A quick few rounds of the four breath pattern can instantly calm and ground you. How it works:Take a breath in for four counts, hold it for four, breath out for four, hold it for four, and repeat a few times.
I love this one because we don’t always have a chance to meditate or go to the gym. This can be a quick and easy SOS whenever you need it.
Reflect – set yourself up for success in 2017
Take five to ten minutes to take stock of your year: What went well in your career and business this year? What did you accomplish? What are you most proud of? We’re always looking ahead and reaching for the next thing, so it’s easy to forget how much you’ve done and how far you’ve come. Give yourself a big fat high five for your journey!
Ask for help – another way to lean in
We are not islands, and we can’t do it all alone. We often think that asking for help is a complete taboo because others will believe that we’re weak or worse: stupid. In the workshop yesterday, we discovered the contrary. Asking for help can be a great opportunity to build trust and rapport, plus it strengthens the connection with your team and peers. Think about how awesome you feel when people ask for your help! It’s a win-win situation: you get to learn, grow and feel supported, and your colleagues/friends/family get to feel good about helping and sharing their knowledge.
Embrace the season – get out and network
Everyone’s in the holiday cheer, so now is a great time to get out there and make new connections. Growing your network now will help you prosper and flourish in 2017.
Whatever you do: be sure to enjoy, embrace and fah-la-la-la-laa-la-la-la-lahhhh! No seriously, though, have fun this season!
With lots of love and warm wishes – your business and career coach,
